Linguistic and Stylistic Features of Islam Safarli’s Creative Work

Abstract

This article provides a systematic analysis of the linguistic and stylistic features of Islam Safarli’s poetic works, highlighting the distinctive place of his language in Azerbaijani literature. The study reveals that Safarli’s poetic style is characterized by simplicity, sincerity, fluid expression, and strong connections to folk speech. His extensive use of onomastic units—including anthroponyms, hydronyms, toponyms, and phytonyms—enriches the poetic lexicon and reinforces national-cultural identity within his verse. Additionally, the poet’s skillful application of stylistic devices such as idiomatic expressions, metaphorical imagery, antithesis, repetition, and inversion enhances the emotional and aesthetic impact of his poetry. Overall, Safarli’s creative approach elevates the expressive potential of the Azerbaijani literary language and contributes significantly to the development of modern poetic style.
